Missing images in uploads
-
Hello,
Our webshop suddenly has not-found(404) images, on various pages.
When I inspect the broken images, I see that they all end with ‘scaled’ as in
VL66-Cognac-scaled.jpg.
When I browse the directory where the images should be, I see that it contains the original image:
VL66-Cognac.jpg
as well as generated images such as:
VL66-Cognac-scaled-100×100.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-1076×1536.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-1121×1600.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-1434×2048.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-247×247.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-340×340.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-510×728.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-560×800.jpg
VL66-Cognac-scaled-768×1097.jpg
but not the missing
VL66-Cognac-scaled.jpg image.
Creating and uploading a VL66-Cognac-scaled.jpg via ftp fixes the problem, but this may be affecting thousands of images and I don’t know what caused it or if it could happen again.
I feel like there is some plugin or setting I need to re-run to generate the missing files, but nothing I’ve tried so far has worked, except for manually finding and uploading replacement images.
Any thoughts on what might have caused this or a process for finding out? Is there a tool or specific technique for fixing this?

Hi there:
You’ve posted to the free support forums for websites hosted here at WordPress.com. Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.
As far as “what” might have caused it, it depends on what other plugins you’re using. Review your activated plugins for any that may impact images and start there.
Otherwise since you use the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.
If it ends up being an issue in WooCommerce, you can open a new support ticket with them from your account page.
I hope this points you in the right direction.
