missing menu options?

  Hi, I’ve brought a book on how to set up wordpress and there are some menu options missing from my dashboard. Most notably updates and permalinks. Where can I find these please? Also my url is https://inclusivelivingconcepts.home.blog/, I thought all free accounts said wordpress.com after them? Help please

  .home.blog and similar are the new suffixes for free sites as addresses ending .wordpress.com are beginning to run out after 15 or so years.
  The book you bought is probably instructions for a site hosted elsewhere that uses the WordPress.org software. There are a number of differences between the two wordpresses: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
