Missing option to choose post types?
-
When I purchase my theme (Poly) several years ago, it was because of the way it displayed each post type differently. Now that I’ve come back to begin using my theme again, there is no option to choose a post type on new posts and old posts are missing the entire side menu.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
Just to clarify, do you see “Post format” option on the sidebar on the right when you are writing posts? You can use that to write posts of different format.

So, here is the complete issue, which I think I can explain clearer now.
- This morning I changed the domain/username from midlifediscombobulation to functionallyrandom. At the time, I chose not to permanently delete midlifediscombobulation as per Change a Site Address in the Support section.
- This left the old content, theme and settings.
- I then attempted to write a new post. However, when I went to choose the post type, that section in the right sidebar was missing. So, I saved it as a draft.
- I thought to open one of the old posts to edit to see if that was an issue in everything. In all old posts, there was no sidebar whatsoever.
- I reopened the draft only to see the sidebar was now missing.
- I attempted to create a new post. This time there was no sidebar either.
- As I had been working in Chrome, I attempted to rectify the issue by working in Firefox, but the issue exists in both browsers, which makes me think, it’s the site itself.
- I deleted midlifediscombobulation completely. This changed nothing.
Is that more helpful?

Aha! Fixed it.
OK, for future reference, do not checkbox the “Create a New User” option in the Change a Site Address process. This apparently confused WordPress as to who had access to do what on the posts. Once I deleted that user, everything reverted to just my admin account.

Hi there,
Glad to see you figured this out. For future reference, and in case anyone else finds this thread, if you change a site address and choose to keep the old address, a new empty site is created at the old address while your content moves to the new.
Likewise, if you choose to register a new user, the new user becomes owner of the site and any upgrades connected to it. The old user is then removed from the site, regardless of whether you keep the old username or discard it. It sounds like the old user might not have been properly removed in this case, but only this account has access to your site now.
