missing picture from Word document
-
I am cutting and pasting the contents of a Word document. Everything shows up okay (I have to adjust some spacing but that’s no big deal) except for an image, which remains missing no matter what I do. This image is something I had cut-and-paste into the Word document, from a website. What could be causing this problem, getting the image into my blog?

You have to upload the image separately so that it resides on your site. Please read the following FAQ entries:

We would need to see what is occuring. Your blog is marked private so we can’t gain access. Best bet would be to look at the post and see where the link to the image is pointed towards. It’s either your harddrive which would mean you have to upload the image or it’s the other site and they don’t allow hotlinking.
Also remember that cut and paste doesn’t upload a image to a website.

Hmmmm….this is a colossal disappointment. My whole purpose in creating the blog is to upload Word documents that contain a ton of cut-and-pasted images/tables. It is impractical for me to sift through all these Word documents and individually save every single image/table. Wayyyyyy too time-consuming. Do you have recommendations of other blog sites that are more Word-friendly? Thanks.

The problem is not with Word and WordPress, necessarily. It’s with where your images are. If they are on your hard drive, no one will be able to see them online. They need to be on web server somewhere, and you will have this issue wherever you go.

Afterthought:
Think about it for a second. If the images are on your computer (which they are, if they are in Word documents, most likely), people would have to be able to access your computer in order to see them. Even if it were feasible, you wouldn’t want an internet full of people poking around your PC. -
The images are not saved on my hard drive. Never were. I merely pasted them from the Web into my Word document.

Well, then may I suggest doing what I suggested and seeing where those images are pointing to? Either the browser is trying to pull an image froma server that doesn’t allow hotlinking or they are pointing at your hard drive.
Unfortunely you’re the only one who can check this out as your blog is private and none of us here can look for you.
Can you unmark your blog as private for a bit? I’ll be here for the next couple of hours. Just as long as it’s not filled with porn or something like that. I am at a community college library currently.
