missing pictures
-
Hello. Perhaps I didn’t realize, but several pictures are missing from my earlier blog posts. I didn’t intentionally delete them from the posts. Do media files delete automatically from older posts if I delete the original file from my own computer? I always assumed that once I uploaded them to a post, the images would be safe, regardless if I deleted the original from my computer. Does this make sense? Did this have something to do with a lack of memory? I just upgraded memory space. Thanks for your help! Rick

Hi Rick,
Are the missing images in your Media > Library page? If they are removed from there, they will be removed from their attached posts. I see that quite a few images were deleted one month ago from your Media Library. In order to get those images back you will have to reupload and reattach them.

Thanks so much for getting back, Grace. I am reuploading (is that a clunky word or what!) even now. That must have been the case. So, the bottom line: Once I upload a media file to WordPress, it remains there regardless of what I do to the original on my own computer? Again, I really appreciate the feedback. Happy New Year!

Yes. As long as they are not deleted from your Media > Library page, you will be set!
