Missing Post menu in Admin

  I have taken over administering a wordpress site and want to introduce a blog, but when I log in as admin, the Post menu is not shown in the left-hand menu. The site is using a modified ZWW’s Theme. I have tried changing the theme to Twenty Fourteen, but that didn’t help.
  Can anyone give me any pointers as to where to start looking to reinstate the Post functions

  Can you please confirm that it is a WordPress.com site (This may be helpful if you’re not sure of the difference betweent WP.com and WP.org)? Please provide URL of your site?

  No, it is a privately hosted site, updated to 3.9.1.
  The URL (http://www.chchbridge.co.nz) is really of no use as there is no user login.
