Missing privacy option

So, there are three different privacy options, though, the one I would like to have isn’t listed.

Because I would like to turn off public listings around WordPress.com. (as in: no public tags) but I don’t mind appearing in search engines and such.

Is there a way to get around this? Thanks a lot in advance.

You could try using tags so obscure that nobody else on wordpress.com is using them, which would pretty much kill your chances of being listed on tags pages or in people’s tag surfers. You’d still be there, but nobody would see you. Of course, it wouldn’t be great from a technorati standpoint, but I’m assuming that if you want to hide from the wordpress.com tags pages you couldn’t care less about technorati :)

    Thanks for your suggestion wank.

The thing is, when people click on a tag, they get redirected to wordpress.com/tags/#tag which is outsite my weblog. There they can see all the other posts in that category posted from all other weblogs.

Now, what I want is that when people click the tags they keep on my weblog as if they were clicking on a category in the sidebar. I can have that now by changing the privacy status. But this also blocks search engines which I don’t find necessary.

So, it’s not exactly a “privacy” issue. I hope it’s a little more clear now.

It’s not exactly true that when they click on a tag they go off your blog. It’s true if they click on the WP Global tag, which is the one attached to your posts. If they click on the Category tag in the sidebar, they only see the posts with that tag that come from your blog. This is, of course, bass-ackwards intuitively speaking, but it’s not exactly unsurmountable.

Well yea, that’s exactly what I mean. So, that when they click the global tag that’s attached to a post they should stay on the weblog. As if they were clicking a category from the sidebar.

I’ve got that right now but at the same time it’s blocking search engines. No seperate option here.

No, there is no way to have a public blog without being part of global tags.

i think wank’s point is that if you use tags like ‘dp_muziek’, when they visit that global tag, they will only see posts from your blog. it won’t have your blog’s styling, though, obviously.
