Missing privacy option, need site private

  I wanted to make my blog offline or private. I found questions here that show how but I don’t have the features it shows in these threads.

  What I am missing under privacy settings is the check option saying
  “I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose”

  Fresh install, WordPress 3.0.5.

  How do I get the option to make the entire thing private, not just posts?

  A fresh install of 3.0.5 means your site is not hosted on WordPress.COM. The Private Blog is a feature of WordPress.COM. You can probably find the equivalent function with a WordPress.ORG Plug-in.
