Missing ‘Read More’ Link

  Hello!

  I seem to be missing the link option to add a ‘read more’ button to my blogging page. I’ve seen tons of walkthroughs but I can’t find the same buttons that others have. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

  Hi,

  Here are three options:

  1. If you would like the blog page to display excerpts of your longish posts, then to to Customize > Content Options and at Blog Display choose the post excerpt option. The Twenty Seventeen demo’s blog page suggests that the default ‘read more’ link on this theme is “Continue reading.”

  2. Insert a More Tag on selected posts to truncate them on the blog page at the point where you insert the tag. The words used in the tag may vary from theme to theme. Could be “Read more,” “Continue reading,” etc.

  3. If your theme is one of those that support customize excerpts, see the Creating Excerpts section of the Excerpt support page.

  Implementing either option 2 or 3 above can, in some cases, override the setting in option 1.

  Thank you, musicdoc1! I could do those things as soon as I deactivated the Gutenburg plugin. Your help is much appreciated!
