Please do not post the same question to multiple threads as it causes the volunteers here to answer the same question in different places.

Is your blog hosted here at wordpress.com? If it is please provide a link to your wordpress.com blog. If you are self-hosted and using the software downloaded from wordpress.org, then you will need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support/ . WordPress.com use a multi-user version of the software and few, if any, of the volunteers here are familiar with the wordpress.org software.

Is this your blog: http://thebloggertips.wordpress.com/ ?

If so I see widgets in your sidebar. To add widgets go to presentation > widgets and add what you want there. When you first start a blog, the theme will display a “default” sample set of widgets and when you go to presentation > widgets and install others, the default set will disappear. What you need to do is drag the widgets you want from the “available widgets” area up and in to the “sidebar” panes and arrange them the way you wish. The when you are done, press the “save changes” button. You can return there at any time to add more or rearrange them.

    Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry about that because I see no reply from people. I have posted this question to other forum but nobody willing to reply me as well.

I will send this question to wordpress.org. Thanks.

    Hi,

I just registered for thebloggertips.com. The 2 sidebars missing. Mabe you can help me?

Since thebloggertips.com is a self-hosted and using the software downloaded from wordpress.org, you need to direct your question to http://wordpress.org/support/ . WordPress.com uses a multi-user version of the software which is different and few, if any, here know anything about it.

By the way, we are mostly all volunteers here and sometimes it may take a little time for us to respond.

hi there helpful and valuable volunteer,

my sidebar disappeared a few hours ago. i’d hoped he’d gone done the street for a margarita but it’s been raining now for a few hours and i’m getting worried.

i keep checking back but no sign of him. any ideas where i should start looking?

here’s where he should be: http://artpredator.wordpress.com

    thanks a lot.

oh and we’ve been together about 2 months and he’s been around the whole 2 months. never disappeared on like this before. BUT i did start a new blog and i played around with some themes on my original blog…do you think i hurt his feelings? what do i need to do to earn his respect and get him back after playing the field like that? i really need to have more than one blog in my life right now.

    thanks…

Open “giving back 2: Art City”, select everything (in the visual editor) in the post and then use the code cleanup button in the extended toolbar (looks like a blue-handled brush). It looks as if it was copied in from the web or from Word or something and it has a few issues. That might take care of part of the issue.

Do the same with your latest post as well “It’s not too late…”

Hopefully that will take care of the problems, otherwise it will become quite a bit more work.

thanks so much…and so quickly too here on a friday night!

i was just going to post that i just noticed that if i scroll down to the bottom of the page, and go to the next entries, they are just fine!

i also just realized the page in question was a bit grey…

i had copied some info off the web about an event at the LA County Museum of Nat Hist and had noticed some odd what must have been code and so went in and edited it (deleted it). in the future i should use that “code” brush?

in the meantime, i will try your suggestion (tonight if my brain will function enough after the port and cookies) i suspect the culprit is “it’s not too late” as the sidebar went awol after that post

    thanks again!

does it matter which order i do this?

i think i did it correctly for “its not too late” but didn’t notice a change.

the art city letter came from an email and has been up for several days no problem…

    thanks again and blessings

ok well every post that included anything that wasn’t original to my having written it on site has been “brushed”–and no luck so far. looks like i gotta “brush” everything. how do i know if it’s been brushed? enough?

i have been highlighting the whole post, then clicking on the brush. how long does it take? how should i know when it’s done?

there must be someplace with info about the toolbar…i should try there and not bother you with my inane questions…

powered just flickered out and now back on while i wrote this–let’s see if i can get this to you

    thanks again!

dang! power out again! probably for good. been doing it all night so i had candles lit but blew them out not long before i got your response

so since i’m kinda captive here on this page right now, i’m going to broach another question here for you since you are so obviously wonderful and helpful…and who knows who else might be lurking here.

i teach writing at a community college and will be using blogs this semester, starting monday jan 7. my students will each have their own blog plus they will blog in groups and there will be 2 class blogs on 2 topics.

any tips for me? as you can tell from my questions i am a neophyte (but not a luddite) the blog is growing and doing well and i’m figuring a lot of it out to get it to do what i want mostly and now that i have a bit of a clue i am finding other blogs on bloggin etc make a bit more sense altho it seems like i ahve many more questions than answers (guess thats true not just about blogging)

    ok power on here goes

If using the “clean up messy code” thing doesn’t work, then you might have to copy out all the text from those posts and use the “paste as text” function (extended toolbar with “T” on the icon). This is a little more drastic and will pull out all formatting – including links. You can probably work around images and do things a section at a time and then put the links back in.

When pasting stuff from the web, always use the “paste as text” function to insert it into your post. If pasting from Word, use the “paste from Word” icon (with the “W” on it right next to the paste as text icon.

either you stay up way late and survive on little sleep or you live on the other side of the world in another time zone…

either way i appreciate your time on this!

i will continue to experiment on this as it is a great distraction from the bigger problem of my life (getting my syllabus for class on monday together)

I have a question on the same concept, but isn’t quite answered yet here or in the other forums: I have chosen Redoable Lite as my Theme because I like the coloring and default sidebar that includes Search, Calendar, Blogroll and Recent Entries. When I try to add widgets, however, such as Flickr, it blows out the default sidebar completely. Does that mean widgets cannot be an add-on to the default sidebar, and are essentially an either-or option, meaning you can either use the default or you have to build a whole new sidebar with individual widgets? I would hate to lose the Recent Entries and Blogroll sidebar widgets.

Or, am I doing something wrong? Any help and clarification is greatly appreciated. My site is lowdogs.wordpress.com
    Thank you!
