Missing sidebar

  I am just creating a website and am new to this. My selected theme is Twenty Eleven and I have chosen 2 columns with the sidebar on the left. I have created 2 widgets in the main sidebar but neither of them has appeared. I do not understand how I access the sidebar – is it only through the widget option.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Yes you access sidebars only through > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets. Know that not every theme and not every layout will provide a sidebar on every page in the blog. The primary feature of Twenty Eleven is no sidebar on the posts when displayed on their own pages.   timethief thank you for your help. I did not understand what you meant by “on the posts when displayed on their own pages” – there was no sidebar on any page. However I have now changed to Motif and the sidebar has appeared.
