Missing ‘Switch to Classic Editor’ option
-
Accessing my sites using a web browser when creating/editing a post in Block Editor mode that in the drop-down menu opened by clicking the ellipsis in top right hand corner the “Switch to Classic Editor” option at the bottom of the menu is no longer there.
Further, following a suggestion to go to the Dashboard via WP-Admin, on clicking on ‘Posts’ in left hand options column that the when adding/editing a post the option to use the Classic Editor no longer exists.
I rather like the Classic Editor as it shows the editing options straightforwardly rather than fiddling with choosing Blocks which may be more flexible but in my view is more cumbersome for mainly text plus image posts.
Any ideas? -
You can stay in the Gutenberg editor and use the Classic block which is just the same as the Classic editor, https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/.
Or you can access your site through the classic backend, https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editor.
The Classic editor will no longer be updated, after a while you’ll be missing several new features. Also the Classic editor will be supported for a limited time. -
Hi there, besides the Classic Block, have you tried just writing in the Block Editor at MySite? The default block is the Paragraph block and you can add images when starting a new block by hitting Enter by starting to type /image which will bring up a whole array of image insertion options.
If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of available blocks, you can limit the number of blocks that appear for you in the Block Manager to just the blocks you need and use. (screenshot)
When in your post or page, click on the Ellipsis at the top right corner of the Block Editor and then click on “Block Manager” under TOOLS (see screenshot 01)
In the next pop-up window that opens, you can uncheck all the blocks that are not relevant for you either by unchecking individual blocks or entire sections by unchecking the box next to the section heading (see screenshot 02)
Unchecking that box doesn’t delete the block; it only removes it from view and you can always re-enable the block later if you decide to use it by checking the box again.
You can find a tutorial on getting started with the Block Editor at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
