Missing the blue bar from the top of my blog

The blue bar at the top of my browser window – with one with the 3 menu items: My Account, My Dashboard, New Post – has disappeared. I am still logged in as I am able to use the Edit button on my posts. This makes going back to the Dashboard or making a new post very difficult without re-entering the address on the URL or scrolling to the bottom and clicking on the WordPress.com address. Is this part of the ‘improvements’ to the site we have had in the last few days? How can I get my blue bar back – please!

What is your operating system?
Which browser and version of it are you using?
Have you tried this? http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/force-refresh/
Depending on your OS, press the following.Windows:
ctrl + F5Mac:
apple+rLinux:
f5If a forced browser reload does not work then my guess would be that you need to clean out your browser objects. Try (on IE 7 – IE 6 is only slightly different) Tools -> General -> (in the browsing history part) Delete -> Temporary Internet Files. If that does not work, clean out the form data as well.
P.S. In the interim the good news from your reader’s viewpoint is that I can see your blog just fine using firefox 2.0.0.5, although it’s taking a long time to load.

Afraid I dont fully understand what you mean but I will ask someone who may be able to help me and will try your suggestions out. I have just had a new hard drive fitted and some of my re-loaded programmes have come back as old versions, which need sorting out. This may be the solution. I will try another computer and see if the bar reappears there – in which case it is my machine rather than the site. If I continue to have problems I will post again. Thanks for your (quick) help.

Think you may have amended your message while I was writing mine? Have tried the forced refresh (typing in my URL?) but it doesnt work. I have found Tools but cant find General under it. I dont have Firefox as far as I know. I am on Windows but think it has reverted to an old version.

I’m visually impaired so I often have to edit my posts more than once. In between posts I wait for my vision to clear before I go at it again. Adding to that we currently have an weirdness when it comes to the forum software that is giving us blank pages.
Setting that aside, the forced reload for windows OS is to hold down the control Ctrl key and click the F5 key at the same time. This will clear the information in your browser out of it.
Do you have any idea which windows operating system you have?

Thank you. I tried the Ctrl + F5 together (twice) but it has made no difference – thanks for correcting my understanding of URL by the way. I clicked on the link you gave me and got to my site fine. I am running WIndows XP Home.

Click “Tools”
Click “Internet Options”
Click “Delete Cookies” (a pop-up appears click OK)
Click “Delete Files” (a pop-up appears asking if you want to delete all offline content checkmark it and click OK)
log out completely
log-in again using http://hopeeternal.wordpress.com/wp-admin
Report back on what happens -

I would like to suggest that you copy and paste the instructions above into a file and keep it on your computer, until you get used to using them on a regular basis.I’m glad to hear this is resolved and thanks for the thanks.
