MIssing thumbnails and images

Some (random?) images started to be mIssing on my website. When I go to the Media Gallery, some (about 15%) thumbnails are not there, and these same images are now missing from the posts as well (a broken link is shown where the image should be). If one clicks on the missing link (if that’s a link to the full-size image), the actual image is shown, so it is definitely there on your server. What got lost, is only smaller size versions of the images – both inserted into posts and previewed in the Media Library. Please have a look into it, since it makes the work with my sites quite impossible. The same problem occurs in my other blog: hisnacerkev.wordpress.com.

Am having a similar issue. Has been cropping up in the last week. Today it is much worse. Images in the media library appear to have broken links or are missing. If I click on the thumbnail the image is still there. But often it will not appear in the post editor or on the site itself –this is across a series of sites and on the latest Firefox and Safari browsers.
Visiting the sites, random images are missing.
Very disturbing.
