Missing website
-
Hello,
I created a website in December 2022 and paid for it to be hosted for one year. I ended up pivoting my idea so allowed it to become inactive after the first year, but now have a new URL purchased and would like to transition/amend this original site, but it is no longer in my WordPress account. How do I retrieve it?!
Hoping you can help!

Hi there!
The domain you mentioned was never hosted by us at WordPress.com. This means you used the free version of WordPress, called WordPress.org, and hosted it with a different company. The domain appears to be pointed to GoDaddy. Perhaps you had your site hosted with them?
You’ll need to contact your hosting company for help with this. As you didn’t host it with us, we don’t have your site on our servers, so you won’t find it on your WordPress.com account.
To clarify, there are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it: WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org.
Once you have access to your website, you can move it to WordPress.com if you’d like to host it on our world-class hosting infrastructure. Feel free to check out our plans and pricing and the instructions for migrating an entire site to WordPress.com.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Soooooo helpful. Thank you so much for your response, very appreciated! I’ll follow up with GoDaddy and it’s helpful to understand that migrating to wordpress.com is an option. Have a lovely day!
