Missing widgets
-
Hi,
I just started a new blog for a client in Twenty-ten and the widgets won’t appear. I’ve read previous posters problems with this issue, but the solutions don’t seem to apply since I haven’t changed themes. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Natalie
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

So far, just image, follow blog, tag cloud and recent posts. The second two obviously might not work until there are posts, but shouldn’t the image and the follow blog appear?
Thanks. -
If I were you, I would make a post and see what happened.
Also that theme has different layout choices. Be sure you’ve chosen one with a sidebar.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. The layout is set to have a sidebar on the right, and the test post didn’t make the widgets appear either.
I wondered if it had something to do with my setting the home page to a static page, but I switched it back just to see if the widgets would appear, and they didn’t. Gah!

Correction: I see the widget on your blog page http://northokanaganinvestigations.wordpress.com/blog/
What’s happening is that theme doesn’t display widgets on static pages or on individual post pages.

I did just adjust something on the ‘Readings Settings’ page. In addition to Front page displays,
A static page,
Front page: Welcome,I also checked
Posts page: blog. Before that change, the blog page wouldn’t show the widgets either.
Soo..what should I do?

I’m afraid I’m at my limit, not knowing much about themes. I cannot see what else to do here.

Sorry, if you cannot tell which theme you’re using, don’t know how it works, and cannot look up the available resources to find out, you have no business setting up a blog for a client.

The widgets appear on the blog page, which is how the Twenty Eleven theme is designed: http://northokanaganinvestigations.wordpress.com/blog/
Widgets do not appear on static pages, like your Welcome page unless the Sidebar page template is chosen.
To do that, edit the page, and choose Sidebar Template from the Template drop-down menu in the Page Attributes box to the right.
