Missing "www"
-
Hi,
A short while ago I purchased the domain http://www.soulbaserecords.co.uk through go daddy. I have linked it successfully to my blog and it redirects perfectly. The only problem is, for some reason, even if you type “www.soulbaserecords.co.uk” into your browser, after a few seconds, the “www” disappears and you are left with just “http://soulbaserecords.co.uk”. I’d like my “www” back! I contacted go daddy and they told me it will be some sort of wordpress setting that is doing this… Is there any way you can help me?
Thanks, Adam

Hi there,
Unfortunately, this is not possible on WordPress.com.
http://soulbaserecords.wordpress.com and http://www.soulbaserecords.wordpress.com would mean the same thing. The issue with having both is that search engines like Google might see the fact that your content is available under both addresses as you trying to gain ranking by duplicating your content, which would then lead to said search engines downgrading you in their search results.
Because of this, we chose not to allow for the www address to be set, and opted for the shorter form of the two instead. If nothing else,it’s 4 less characters for your users to have to type to reach your content. :)
