  I started a new blog and although it is active, it is still on, it still shows a white bar: Create your website with WordPress.com. Can it be turned off? I have not seen this on other blogs.

  Are you referring to the top banner, shown here?

  

  If yes, please keep in mind that free sites on WordPress.com display this banner, as well as ads. To remove these, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
