Mistakenly linked to a copy of WP with a different hosting service

  • Unknown's avatar

On my personal WP site, I mistakenly linked to a copy of a WordPress site with a different hosting service. I’d like to unlink to that site (without deleting off of the other hosting service, just my own). How can I do that?

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hi @janicedrickey2013, can you send a few more details? “Link” can mean a lot of different things on the web, so I want to be sure I understand what you’re hoping to do.

Also, I did notice you have more than one site linked to this account. You have a site connected to your account through Jetpack. That won’t affect your other sites, though.

Send more details and we’ll help how we can.

Thanks for getting back to me, supernova.

    Here’s the message I received:

janicedrickey2013 is my old, personal site that doesn’t need to be subscribed to the Sequim Picklers website. I did it accidentally and now want to un-do it.

I also don’t know how I got a site connected to janicedrickey2013 through Jetpack. I’m stumbling around trying to learn what I’m doing and I’m (obviously) making some errors. I don’t even think I need Jetpack.

Any help you can lend will be appreciated.

  • Hi there,

I did it accidentally and now want to un-do it.

Ah, so you want to unsubscribe yourself to a site that you followed. You can do that by going to your Reader at http://wordpress.com/read click the manage button, and then select the green follow link next to Sequim Picklers site to unsubscribe. Demonstration below:

I also don’t know how I got a site connected to janicedrickey2013 through Jetpack

If you want to disconnect from Jetpack, our support page provides a guide on how to remove your self-hosted WordPress site from your WordPress.com account:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/

If you have any questions or trouble with the disconnection, let me know, and I’d be happy to assist with that as we can make the disconnection from our end as well.

If you are unsure about whether you are interested in keeping Jetpack, please take a look at the features that the plugin provides on our page here:

    About Jetpack

I highly recommend the Jetpack as it provides many features to your site that would have if your site was hosted on WordPress.com.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
