Misty Look – customizable archives?
-
I just switched to the Misty Look theme from Cutline. I like the fonts and overall appearance. I don’t, however, like that the Categories and Archives only show an excerpt. My posts (text and image) don’t fit that style, and it creates a lot of clicking around (which annoys the crap out of me, when I’m the reader). I’ve read other forum threads on the topic and have found varying answers, which is why I’m posting. Can I change that one feature of Misty Look? Am I missing an option or check box somewhere? Or can I customize some other theme to give me the best of all worlds? So far, I haven’t gotten into CSS but am willing to give it a try with some guidance or suggested reading material, if that would give me the solution I’m looking for.

That is controlled in the underlying theme files which we cannot modify.
Sandbox is the most customizable (it’s basically a blank canvas and people have done a lot with it. With the CSS upgrade though, remember that there is no official support for it here at wordpress.com, and few here that have any in-depth experience with it, so you will pretty much be on your own.

Also search for CSS in the FAQ’s.

Thanks for the info. It’s frustrating – I think there should be “preferences” page where you can make choices about stuff like that.

It would require some serious rewriting of the underlying theme files for all themes to be able to accomplish this. If that ability is not built into the theme, then it isn’t a matter of simply providing a “preference.”

Bye bye, Misty Look theme!
(I’ve never been one to accept things as they are packaged – but in the case of WordPress, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks!)
Thanks for your help.
