Misty Look — editing the font size and indent for comments

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have Misty Look with a CSS upgrade. I’ve already made a number of changes to the theme.

    I’d like to make the following changes to the comments:

    1) reduce the font size of the comments

    2) increase the indent (or nesting width) of the replies to a comment so that it is a more pronounced thread.

    3) increase or otherwise make the comment link more noticeable

    Any help is MUCH appreciated. Thank you!

    Give the following a try. The 0.9em font size is a little smaller than the original. You can adjust as needed. The 10px value on the margin-left in the second selector is the original value.

    .commentlist p {
    font-size: 0.9em;
    }

    #content-main .commentlist .children {
    margin-left:10px;
    }

    #3 cannot be done because the bottom post metadata is all in the same selector. It can’t be selectively changed.

    Excellent — thank you so much!

    The titles/names of the comments did not get smaller however and now appears large compared to the comment text. Is there a way to reduce that heading size, or is that one of those things that cannot be selectively changed?

    Change it to

    .commentlist {
    font-size: 0.9em;
    }

    You are so amazingly helpful and expedient!!!

    Thank you!

    Hey, while you’re here, can I ask you another question?

    I changed a lot of the original Misty Look Theme, and when my page first loads it flashes (often or always) a second of the original theme before it loads my actual site. This wouldn’t be a big deal but the colors are different between the original and what I have going, so it’s a little weird to see this flash of a page before my page loads

    Do you know know I might address that?

    Thanks again!

    I’m not seeing that in Firefox, Opera or Safari. What browser are you using and what version?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am using Firefox. Maybe it only does it when I am previewing my posts as I am editing them? Could be!

    Yeah, the preview stuff here has been flakey for the past few months, so that could be it. Log out, clear your cache and cookies, restart your browser and then visit your blog and see what happens.
