Mixed Content On Instant Post Feedback Page Causing Black Page In Firefox 23
-
Hello,
I would like to report a problem that started when Firefox 23 first came out (this problem also effects the versions after that so far) that effects/affects the Instant Post Feedback Page when your WordPress.com Personal Settings | Personal Options | Browser Connection Settings is set to: “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages”.
Firefox 23 and versions after that so far block mixed content (Http content on Https pages) by default now when accessing SSL encrypted (Https) websites, and so that Http content will not be shown on the Https pages by default.
When ever I Publish a post and it goes to the Instant Post Feedback page that gives you a preview of your post, the preview is not shown, and that part of the page is blank because that page is marked as mixed content because the preview is Http & not encrypted; but the rest is.
So I am wondering if the WordPress.com Team would fix this issue by making all the content on the Instant Post Feedback page Https to avoid the mixed content problem causing the previews of posts to not be shown?
-Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Google Chrome?
Can you please try clearing out your browser cache or reset Firefox: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems

I do not have Google Chrome.
I use permanent Private Mode in Firefox on Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7, and this happens on both operating systems in Firefox.
If I click the icon that lets you know that the page is encrypted, Firefox says that it blocked unsecure content on the page (mixed content), and so this is not a bug it seems; it is just a new default rule/feature in Firefox it seems.
You have the option to unblock unsecure content, but since the Instant Post Feedback page is different everytime you make a post, this is not helpful because you have to do this everytime; but it is pointless by then.

It seems there are several known Mixed Content bugs in Firefox 23 that’s causing this. They are working on fixes and pushing this to Firefox 24.
You can disable the protection just for that page by clicking on the logo in upper left corner. It’s next to the site address in the address bar.
Alternatively you can completely turn off the feature off in Firefox’s advanced config.
To do this, go to ‘about:config‘. In the search box, type ‘mixed’.
In the options that should appear:
* security.mixed_content.block_active_content
* security.mixed_content.block_display_contentChange block_active_content to false and leave block_display_content as false. This should enable the content without the blocking notification/actual blocking.

Disabling it by page is not effective in this case since the page address is different everytime, but turning off the feature completely is effective; but I will just wait until the next version of Firefox, and hopefully it will be fixed.
Thank you for sharing that information Kardotim, and if it is not fixed in the next version I will try to remember to report it.
-Have a nice day
