Mobile

    Hello,

My mobile version is a mess, everything is squished/justified left and the image header is cut off. It appears this way weather I enable the mobile theme or not and weather I look at it in regular google and google chrome.

What do I need to do so that my mobile site looks exactly like my desktop version (i.e. layout, all menu items on display at the top etc)

    Cheers,

    Matthew

Note: Book Lite works best with a smaller menu when viewing on a mobile device. The custom menu’s appearance also changes slightly when a custom header is not set — this is normal. https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/book-lite/

if you wish to you can switch to using a responsive layout theme. The mobile ready theme is default and a completely different theme that you do not need to enable at all when you use a free responsive layout theme https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/?sort=free

A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

As I said above the mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme. Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

    Hello,

I am content with the mobile look but only once I select “View Mobile Site” at the bottom of the page while on my I phone.

This seems stupid to me, meaning even if I select Enable mobile theme under Appearance->Mobile Options from my desktop, I still have to select “View Mobile Site” from my Iphone to have it not look like a mess.

I love The Book Lite Theme vis-à-vis header images and wish to keep. Is there a way I can put code in so when someone visits my site they do not have to scroll to the bottom and select “View Mobile Site”?

    Hope I am making sense.

    Thanks

    Matthew

When I visit your site on my phone, the first view I see is the mobile version, which does look much better with your particular theme.

If you are seeing something else, let me know. Otherwise, your settings are just right.

    Hi liz,

yes it looks fine, my only question is when someone visits our site from a mobile for the first time will it default to the mobile site which looks clean or to the full website which is otherwise a mess

    Hey Matthew!

If they visit your site from a mobile device, they’ll see the mobile theme. The mobile theme replaces your normal theme when the browser detects certain screen resolutions.
