Mobile friendly blog

    Hello!

I am using the Eighties free theme and my site looks and works great on a laptop and desktop, however, on mobile the site (or at least the header image) is not responsive so it only shows a portion of the header image while the rest of the site becomes responsive and works fine. What do I need to do to fix my header to adjust to mobile views?

    Website: http://www.stateofmine.com

    Thank you,

    Kevin

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I apologize for the typo, the URL is http://www.stateofmine.co not .com

  • Your site looks gorgeous on my iPhone 5. I can see your header image scaled down to fit the tiny screen.

So this does not look like a problem anymore. What type of mobile device are you testing on?

Thank you chaitanyamsv! After I sent my post, I went digging around some more and was able to locate a section in the dashboard that allowed me to allow my site to be mobile friendly, however, I noticed it works fine on the iPhone, just not the iPad. Do you know what might be causing it to not adjust to the iPad screen? I would have thought it would have been responsive to both device screen sizes.

Perhaps you misunderstand what the term mobile friendly and what the terms responsive layout themes mean. Responsive layout themes are the gold standard. The mobile theme is only intended for use on sites that are not using responsive themes. These themes are responsive layout themes http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/

A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

Also note that you can view how your site appears in multple devices here http://www.responsinator.com/?url=stateofmine.co%2F

Hi timethief! Apologies. I meant mobile friendly, not responsive. I have created the ability for my site to pull a mobile version of the site when on a mobile device, which it is working currently. However, it is only working on my iPhone, not the iPad. I checked out the link you sent with all the responsive themes and mine does appear on there as a responsive theme. The theme I am using is called Eighties. What do I need to do to have it responsive? Before I made it mobile friendly, it was not responsive. Appreciate your help.

    Kevin
