Mobile header

How do I make the mobile and tablet headers show up correctly?
https://apoliticalparadox.wordpress.com/
It just crops it.
When I try to change the mobile and/or tablet headers, it changes the desktop header too.
You can’t even currently see my title on mobile.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy!
Your site is using The Expound Theme. The site is scaling properly on my iphone 6. My suggestion is to edit the image being used. You may have better luck by reducing the image size, or choosing an image without text.
-
If I edit the image so that it has the dimensions for mobile, how do I make it also look good on desktop?
The image either needs to scale the same on both platforms, or we need to be able to use two different headers for each type of device.

Hi there – Without the CSS upgrade we are a bit more limited in what we can do. I think our best options are to …
1. Edit the text in the image to be in the middle, this way it will scale better to mobile view and not be cut off.
2. A better option would be to use the title and tagline of the theme. You can check the box at https://apoliticalparadox.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php to turn on that feature and then remove the text from the image.
What do you think?

So I need to literally pay money to get the header image to not crop off the sides on mobile and scale the same? :(
Why is that a premium feature? Why doesn’t it just scale correctly instead of cropping?
-
We can do this for free – no CSS required

I just want to use a header. Why can’t I use a header image so that my blog doesn’t look so cheap?

And I’m unable to make it large.
And when I increase the size, it changes the size of my blog posts text size.
And I’m not able to make the title big and tagline small.
It’s absolutely perfect the way that it already is. I don’t need to make any changes. I just need the image to scale correctly on mobile instead of cropping out 95% of the image.

Hi there –
I see that you’ve turned on the site title and tagline option. This is scaling correctly for me on my iPhone 6 mobile view. Can you let me know which device you’re viewing the issue on?
The font for this section of the site can be adjusted via My Sites > Customizer > Font

I did that, because you said to try that. It’s not working at all, though.
I can’t change the title text size without changing the blog text size. And the header still isn’t scaling on mobile; it’s still just cropping it to the center. And the test doesn’t stay on one line; it adds multiple line breaks, taking up almost the whole screen.
I don’t want to change everything; I just want the full header to show up mobile devices, tablet, and desktops.
Samsung S7. I’m getting the same mobile view that the the built-in WYSIWYG Designer shows.

This type of customization is only possible with custom CSS.
Our free features are meant to be functional for most users. To obtain full control over the look of the site you’ll want to add WordPress.com Premium.

If I can’t use my header without 90% of it being cropped and losing the text, can you please at least remove the header altogether on mobile?
Then, my site will still work on mobile, since the majority of internet traffic in 2016 is mobile.

@apoliticalparadox, this theme is designed to work that way, so yeah, altering its design would take custom CSS. A few more options I thought of:
– You could design the header image so it works on mobile first then just has extra stuff for larger screens.
– You could pick a different theme (just be sure you test it on mobile first to be sure its header works the way you want it to)
– OR, try the older default mobile theme.
Before most of our themes were mobile friendly, we had a fallback theme for mobile devices. That will show your whole image, though it does change other aspects of the site design. On the plus side, it’s designed to download fast on slow connections.
You can find that older mobile theme here:
http://apoliticalparadox.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-optionsThat said, I tested your header image with the mobile theme, and the subtitle text is super tiny because you’re putting a wide image on a narrow screen. Still, it’s the closest I’ve seen to what you’re after.
I hope that helps.
