mobile theme on tablets & iPad
-
Hi WordPress.com forum members,
Could someone suggest a theme that doesn’t change to a mobile version when viewed on a tablet or iPad? Reason being: I like my sidebars, and when viewed on an iPad, with 2014 theme, they disappear.
Thank you for your help.

See here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/ Twenty Fourteen is a responsive layout theme. Know that responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading. When you use a responsive width theme you go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme.
The mobile theme is a completely different theme.

Thank you for explaining. I appreciate that the mobile theme works well for mobiles / cell phones and for that reason I want to leave it on. However, on the iPad, I want to view the site as if I was on a desktop. With twenty fourteen there seems to be no way of doing this unless I pay for a custom css upgrade and add my own @media calls adjusting the width at which the changes take place – but that’s too much work. That’s why I am looking for a different theme.
