moderate comments in a single post?

  Hi people,

  I am interesting in moderating comments in a single post but leaving comments unmoderated in the rest of my blog. Is this possible?

  i don’t think that’s possible. you should just moderate all comments, because that way you definitely get to filter the unwanted comments rather than risk it appearing in the blog while you’re away.

  You can CLOSE comments on the post, if you want, though.

  I’ve just discovered the wonder of closing comments on posts. It’s double-plus good.

  Ahem … I don’t need convincing. It’s those who think that the odd comment received on an old post is worth it’s weight in gold that you need to convince. I would be delighted if comments on posts over 30 days old were automatically closed. And if you use the forum searchbox you will find that I have previously proposed this. However, this conversation could confuse the OP of this thread.

  We are all in agreement that the answer to your question is “no”. The only way you can achieve having moderated comments on a single blog post is to set up comment moderation for your whole blog and, then edit and manually close comments on each and every blog post, except for the one that you wish to moderate comments on.

  It WOULD be a nice feature, though. Could use it on any number of my posts, though not the majority.

  I wrote something to do it :)

  Still ironing out the kinks. It’ll be like the Tag Cloud Generator, a program you run on your computer. Four functions:

  – create a report with the comment status of all posts
  – turn all comments on
  – turn all comment off
  – turn off all comments on posts older than X days

  Only downside is it’s slow because of the limited functionality of XML-RPC (you can only do a full edit post like you were using Performancing or MarsEdit, you can’t just modify the comment settings). So it takes up as much bandwidth as downloading your blog and uploading it again (without images). That’s about 8 MB for my blog.
