Modify colour of a page's title

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

    I’m using the Goran theme on my website, and I’m trying to customise the format of the titles on a few of my pages so that they match my designer’s featured images’ design.

    The featured images’ design is custom-made so that the children pages’ featured images look good when all children pages are presented in a grid format (on the front page and the parent page).

    However, then, when on the actual children page, the title of the page appears in the middle of the featured image, in white – which doesn’t work or read well with the design. So ideally, I’d like to be able to either change the colour of the title, or remove the title altogether (while the title still appears on the parent or front page as part of the grid).

    I’m a beginner in CSS; but I have a feeling I cannot code my way out of this, as this would require modifying the Goran theme’s template… Would you have any idea how to solve my issue without having to go back to the drawing board with my designer to make her change the featured images’ design?

    Thanks a million in advance for your help!

    Hello paulineche,

    Thank you for reaching out to us! Custom CSS is only available with the Premium Plan and the Business Plan.

    But I do have an alternative solution for your problem. You can ask your designer to darken the featured images to increase the contrast with the titles. On https://wordpress.com/theme/venture you can see an example of my suggested solution.

    I hope that helps and please me know if you have any further questions!

    Best,
    Niels

    Hi Niels,

    Many thanks for your post, this is really helpful! I’ll see with the designer if the “darkening” trick can work. (I think it would work well for the featured image, but as a result, the presentation in the grid format might loose its appeal, but worth a try!)

    But in case we’d decide to go with a Premium plan, can titles’ colours be changed? Do you think this would be possible within Goran’s features?

    Thanks!
    Pauline

  • Hi Pauline –

    But in case we’d decide to go with a Premium plan, can titles’ colours be changed? Do you think this would be possible within Goran’s features?

    Yes, absolutely! You can change most elements’ appearance with custom CSS. For example, this CSS code would make page titles overlaid on the background images the same coral colour that’s used elsewhere on your site:

    .hero .page-title {
      color: #e74f4e;
    }

    With a Premium plan, you also have access to live-chat support for real-time assistance, as well as the ability to upload audio and video files, among other features.

    Just let me know if you have any other questions.
