modifying Vigilance theme text column to a split text/2 column text

    newbie alert

    I am using the vigilance theme on my wordpress.com hosted blog
    I was wonderign if there is a way to convert the current text column into a split text column

    much like one sees laid out in a magazine or academic journal

    to ensure clarity
    consider your traditional microsoft word document to be a single column
    and if you go to page layout, you have the option of creating a 2 column text field

    that is what i am trying to achieve
    I wish to retain my sidebar widget columns

    much appreciated

    That cannot be done at wordpress.COM since it would require rewriting of the underlying PHP script files for the theme and we cannot do that here.

    You can do it on a post by post basis as explained in this blog post by Panos: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/formatting-text-pt-1/ .
