domain

hi i just $purchased$ the upgrade where i can redirect my pre owned domain to my wordpress- and its doesnt work-
i followed the instructions very closely- and looked online for other tutorials- no luck.

my blog is not functional and i am not able to update it when i apply this feature.

the only problem i guessing might be a problem is
that on my site provider- (lunar pages) there are only 2 spaces for me to input revised name servers
although in the directions it asks to input 3 name severs-

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

after inputing the fisrst 2 name servers- the process half worked-
it made agerstrand.com redirect to the site i had at the time- then after making some changes and tyring to update my page from wordpress
the changes would not reflect on (agerstrand.com)

i then tried to toggle between my default domain- turning back to wordpress and then again back to agerstrand.com
from there- when i would click “visit site” on the top left corner of my dashboard-

it would actually direct me to my pre existing site. So i was not able to view my blog at all- unless i changed the default domain back to the wordpress domain.

all im trying to do is make my current domain that i already own (agerstrand.com)
redirect through my new wordpress blog so that im able to use my wordpress blog as my website-

please help me out- it is urgent that i get my portfiolio site updated

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • On the Upgrades / Domains tab of your blog, select agerstrand.com as your primary domain.

yes that does not work- at times it would show my blog- but updates would not update when using my domain–

    for example-
i would change my header- press save

then i would go to : my website- and a change would not happen-
and from there- after trying again- it wouldnt show at all- and my webpage stays the same

  • I’m not quite sure I understand you, but this sounds like DNS propagation delay. It can take a while before a name server change works completely everywhere. Usually no more than a few hours, but occasionally a day or two. That’s just the way DNS works.

    thank you telly worth-

one more question- i saw 2 different answers for-
after im added my domain to my wordpress-

what should my name severs be- do i need to switch it back to the default – or does it need to stay as ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com

another website says that im supposed to change it back to the default- is this correct?

  • They should stay as is.

Do you intend to use a subdomain of agerstrand.com to host something else (like a forum or another web site)?

no its just my personal website- where i wanna post my work-
i dont want to use my current site-

instead i want to use what i have been bulding at
    http://billyagerstrand.wordpress.com

to be what loads when you type in agerstrand.com
i dont know why i click on my blog though- that it goes to my old website
do i need to take that site down or something – for the redirect to work?

its been almost 24 hours – and i dont know if being inpatient or if i made a mistake
    :D

  • No, if you’ve correctly set the nameservers for your domain to ns1 and ns2.wordpress.com then all you have to do is wait.

They’re currently still showing as the old servers:

yeah i needed to switch it back to i could edit my site- because i cant see changes when i switch it back- i’ll try that out and play the waiting game- thank you for your help
