Modlook- cant access my website

  • Unknown's avatar

website is down. Expert says its due to non-payment. However, the card on file should have worked so I dont understand why you couldnt charge the card. I would like to get the website back but I want to request that the $80 fee be waived.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi vwiadmin,

Sorry you are having an issue renewing your domain.

While you wait for a moderator to review your post you can learn more about the domain expiration process here – https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

    All the best,

  • Hi there,

Even if the card is valid, autorenew sometimes fail, most often because the bank that issued the card is declining the transaction. Banks sometimes do this as pro-active fraud prevention, even if you granted us permission to re-charge the card – we have no way of telling your bank this.

We sent you an email on 22 April to notify you that the automatic renewal had failed, and we sent several more reminder emails during the rest of April and May until the domain expired. There was also a grace period of about 40 days after the domain expired during which it could still have been renewed before it was removed from our system and entered redemption at the registrar.

The $80 fee is what we have to pay the registrar to get the domain back, and we are not able to waive that fee in this case. Please let me know if you agree to the fee and I can get the recovery process started for you.

The alternative is to wait a few weeks until the domain is deleted at our registrar, at which point it should become available for registration again. This is risky, however, as someone else could also buy the domain at that time, in which case you’ll lose it. Also note that registering the domain as a new domain will require a paid plan if you want to use it with a WordPress.com site, as we no longer sell domains as single upgrades.

Unfortunately, the email you send the notification to is not an email I check frequently. Is there seriously no way to waive this $80 fees? I have had the domain for a long time and I have paid every year without any issues. That should count for something.

  • We sent the email to the address you provided to us when you created your WordPress.com account. We have no other way to contact you about issues related to your account and upgrades, so if that’s not an email you monitor, please update your account email to one that you do:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

As I said above, we are not able to waive this fee, as that is what we need to pay to get the domain back. The only alternative is to wait for the domain’s eventual release.

smh…this is just ridiculous and unfair. You guys are just making money in a very unscrupulous way. What is the $80 for? Who does it go to? For reinstating a domain that I pay less than that for plus being paying $26 annually for the last 5 years?

Please just go ahead and charge the card on file or provide me with the steps to make the payment.

  • Hi @vwiadmin, sorry, to clarify we aren’t making money on that fee. We have to pay the registrar an extra $80 to get the domain back at this point. We let you take care of that charge, and we don’t add a penny more to it. (except the regular renewal price)

We only had the email address you gave us, and did our best to get in touch about the expiration.

Do you want to just wait it out? It’s a bit risky because someone else could potentially pay the registrar more for the domain at this point. But if they don’t sell it, it’ll be released later.

How do I pay the $80 and $26 to get the website back up and running please?

  • I’ll send an invoice. Once it’s paid, let me know & we’ll reach out to the registrar letting them know we agree to pay their fee, then it takes about a business day for them to restore it to us, and we restore it to you.

modlook – I have an account fdlicensing.com. I no longer have access to the primary email, and i have lost the password, so requesting a new password is useless.

I filled in an account recovery form but the form says “receipt appears to be incorrect.” I assume this refers to the transaction ID I entered which was correct, and not incorrect at all.

I want to upgrade this to premium and get going on this blog again but I cannot as I cannot access it. HELP!

Email to use is not this camberley one either i am not interested in this blog. use this one for now (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Will the content of the website/blog still be available? Or is it all lost?

  • @vwiadmin your content is there, just not accessible since the domain doesn’t work. But once we’ve got the domain back it’ll come up again. I’ve just emailed an invoice. Cheers :)

  • @camberleysocietyblog since your issue isn’t really related to this topic, can you go ahead and start a new thread? Then add the modlook tag to that under “tags” on the right.

  • Unknown's avatar

What do you mean the issues isnt related to the thread? You sent me an invoice which I paid to get my website reinstated. Can you please advise on whether payment has been received and when I can expect my website to be back on.

supernovia- can you please respond to my post? This is crazy

@vwiadmin Just to make things clear for you, note that the message from @supernovia that said:

@camberleysocietyblog since your issue isn’t really related to this topic, can you go ahead and start a new thread? Then add the modlook tag to that under “tags” on the right.

was addressed to someone else who had interrupted your thread. I’m sure your site will soon be available again and staff will confirm that here, for as you were told earlier, once you have paid:

it takes about a business day for them to restore it to us, and we restore it to you.

  • vwiadmin –

I’ve replied to your email. I’m going to close this thread now and you can get back to me in the email with any further questions.
