  Can you please help me restore my images on this site. They are being distorted. I have been asked to post here by WordPress on Twitter, and tag modlook

  Hi there,

  By distorted you mean cropped, right? How exactly did this happen? What changes have you made?

  yes I mean cropped.

  I’m not sure what changes I made exactly. I first opted for the new block system then modified some of my settings. I noticed my site didn’t look good on the mobile and tablet views (now we’re able to check them while editing).

  I activated mobile settings. But then changed back when I saw the cropped photos occurred. At first I thought it was just one post, then I saw it was all my posts.

  Changing back to the no option on mobile settings didn’t solve the problem.

  I am in UK so I will be off to bed soon. Sorry I did not se this before now.

  Oh btw. I opted for classic editor half way through my post as I didn’t like, the blocks. The problem with images I noticed after swapping to classic editor. Not sure if this is connected?

  I see your site in the same way on the desktop and on the mobile but I guess the images are cropped in both. Am I right that this photo is not complete? https://d.pr/i/iE8uyb

  This is probably theme-related, however, since the theme you have been using for your site has been already retired, there wouldn’t be anything we can do about this.

  Would you be willing to check some of the other themes from our library?
  WordPress.com/themes.

  You can try the older ones without activating them by clicking on the three dots next to the theme’s name and choosing the option Try&Customize.

  

  This will allow you to see how the theme would look like with your content and how could you customize it.
  On the newer themes, you will not see that option, however.

  Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.

  Thank you for the answer, but why as it happened now? This theme never gave me any problems before with my images.

  Why will the problem be resolved if I change theme?

  This all happened when I accepted new WordPress editor.

  The old, retired themes are not updated so they may not work correctly with new features of WordPress (like the Block editor) or even new version of your browser.

  The images on a post are never cropped automatically so it should not happen with any other theme.
  The only time an image will get cropped is a header image that will adapt to the size of the screen of the device on which you are visiting the site.
