Modlook – Site Cannot Be Accessed

http://www.travelingchef85.com
I have no issue logging into my site at http://www.travelingchef85.com/wp-admin. However, when logged into http://www.wordpress.com my site is flagged with a red circle that when clicked gives the following error message “Site Cannot Be Accessed”. I have a premium jetpack subscription and when I try to connect my social media accounts via the sharing feature I get this error message “500 status code for “POST /sites/144067542/publicize-connections/new”. My site domain is with GoDaddy. Please advise how I can resolve this issue. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
I’m sorry to say that you are posting to the wrong support forum. This is WordPress.COM support where we provide support only for sites on our servers. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support. The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support. Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support. -
Thank you for providing the link explaining the difference. I think my issue is that I began with a wordpress.com account but then obtained my own domain and linked it and then deleted any other wordpress.com generated sites/blogs. So now my site wants to run through the .com but should be exclusively .org and is unable to connect to the host for sharing. Is there a way I can delete my wordpress.com account to de-conflict with my current site?

Hi –
I’ll be happy to help get this sorted.
The domain mapping on travelingchef85.com, which connects that domain to WordPress.com was cancelled.
Can you confirm for me that it’s travelingchef85.com that you want the Jetpack plan to be connected to or if you wanted to use travelingchef.blog which is also on the account.
-
Thank you so much! I would like http://www.travelingchef85.com to be the only site using Jetpack and be able to utilize the share features.
-
The Jetpack premium plan is already connected to that site.
Domain mapping for travelingchef85.com has also been disconnected from WordPress.com. Did you update the name servers to point it to the new service yet?
-
I’m sorry I don’t know what that means to “update the name servers to point it to the new service”? So probably not.
-
The domain is registered through GoDaddy. You’ll go to your account there to manage any setting for the domain.
Name servers tell the internet what version of your site to load. For example, if they are directed to WordPress.com they’ll show your WordPress.com version of the site. If they’re directed elsewhere it’s the same story. Currently they are set to AFTDESIGN5000.COM, does that seem correct?
-
i don’t know what AFTDESIGN5000.COM is but i can log in to my Go Daddy account and try to figure this out.
-
Ok, so I found the Domain Manager section on my GoDaddy account and it says under RECORDS: “We can’t display your DNS information because your nameservers aren’t managed by us.” But it also has another section-
NAMESERVERS:
Using custom name servers [CHANGE]
ns1.aftdesign5000.com
ns2.aftdesign5000.comDo I want to change this to something else to link with my site? If so, what should it say?

Remember that what we do at WordPress.com is different from using the WordPress installation. Those differences are outlined in this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Since the domain doesn’t point to WordPress.com I’m pretty limited with what help I can actually provide – I don’t have any access to your set up.
My best advice is to read over the materials listed under “Learn how to use WordPress” on this page: https://codex.wordpress.org/
The community forums for the WordPress installation are found at wordpress.org/support/ There’s even a Jetpack one as timethief has previously mentioned. I’d suggest that you write to the Jetpack team directly for additional questions about that plugin.
