Modularity Lite issues
-
I have recently revamped my blog by switching to modularity lite. There are a few tweaks I would like to do but can’t find the answers as to how to do it:
1. I don’t want the textured background that comes with this theme but would prefer it to just be plain black.
2. I want to include ‘follow by email’ instructions on my blog. I can’t find a ‘follow by email’ widget but other people using modularity lite have included this function so there must be a way.
3. Now when you go to my blog page a strange thing happens. There is a ‘gallery’ box at the top showing previous uploads into my blog (even pictures that I didn’t end up publishing). It looks great but distracts from the blog post. I’m in two minds at the moment but if I choose to remove it how do I go about doing so?
4. I have the option of a side-bar but I think it is distracting from the image. However, I wouldn’t mind including information at the bottom of the page such as how many people are viewing the site, connect with facebook button etc. Again I can’t work out how to do this but have seen it on other modularity lite blogs so would love to be enlightened.
If anyone can help me with any of these issues I’d really appreciate it. My blog is http://www.anenchantedeye.com
Thanks!

Hi Eleanor —
1. I don’t want the textured background that comes with this theme but would prefer it to just be plain black.
Choose black for the background color in Appearance->Background here:

For that, you’ll want to use the Follow Blog widget:
Follow Blog Widget3. Now when you go to my blog page a strange thing happens. There is a ‘gallery’ box at the top showing previous uploads into my blog (even pictures that I didn’t end up publishing). It looks great but distracts from the blog post. Currently, your homepage has a slideshow gallery in it:
https://thedailypostdotme.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2822&action=editIf you edit that, you can control which images are shown in it. However, Modularity Lite has its own built-in slideshow feature that’s intended to automatically pull very large images from your recent posts into a big slideshow. You can read more about how to set this up here:

To do that, just put your widgets in the footer widget areas here instead of the sidebar:
