Modularity Lite Slidshow not Working

I ma using large image in the blog posts but they are not showing up in the slideshow. Most are 1024 wide.

Please use these troubleshooting tips:
1. Optimize and presize all images offline so they fit into the maximum displayed image width of your theme. Doing that means you will not be wasting your space. It also means the cropper will not come into play so no image quality will be lost. -
I don’t mind is the cropper takes away parts of the image. Shouldn’t an image that is 1024 wide work in the slideshow?

The standout feature of Modularity Lite is its beautiful home page slideshow. Each photo in the slideshow will be a whopping 950 pixels by 425 pixels. That’s huge! To get it working, first click Yes! I’d like to enable the optional home page slideshow in Appearance → Theme Options from your dashboard and click Save Options. Next make sure some of your recent posts have really large images–at least 950 pixels by 425 pixels. It’s the first image in your post that will be used for the slideshow image. The number of slideshow images will match the number of blog posts showing on your home page. You can change that number from your WordPress.com dashboard at Settings → Reading. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/

I would think that 1024 wide would work then, maybe it needs to meet the min in both directions?

AND I found your solution.
The pictures used in the slideshow are the ones you upload in a post.
1 Go to the “Edit Post” page of a post (e.g. Peonies on your blog)
2 Click on that little Camera/Music icon next to “Upload/Insert”
3 In the “Add Media” window, upload the image for your slide show
4 In the “Add Media” window, Make sure it’s in your “Gallary” tab (Perhaps give it a proper name)
5 Save all changes (Don’t insert your picture into a post, or use it as featured image)Hope this also works for you!

Here’s what was goin on on my blog. I was using the images on other pages and they were being added to the gallery for those pages. Then when I tried to add them to a post, they would not go into the post gallery. I guess one uploaded image can only be included in one gallery.
My solution was to just redownloaded the image and used it fresh in the blog and voila! it created the gallery for the blog and rolled into the slideshow.
I went back to each of my prior blogs and reinserted my images, now it works perfectly!
