Modularity Lite Theme Will Not HyperLink

  • Unknown's avatar

Hey folks, I made a webpage for my friend who’s nephew has been missing since Hurricane Irene. For whatever reason I cannot get the news and other links to hyper link. I have tried using the link option button and have also tried just straight coding it into the html editor, but nothing is working. I am using the Modularity Lite theme.

Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions? There are a ton of other things that need to be worked on in this case and I really don’t want to have to recode another page/theme, but it is important for folks to be able to click a link and have it open.

this is not theme specific. There are others who have had the same issue > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/can039t-add-links

Before you file a support ticket please do the following as it will expedite getting help from Staff. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.

Perhaps I didn’t explain my problem clearly. When trying to link/code a hyper link in the HTML editor, nothing happens. The original link does not even show on the page let alone hyper link. I have used the link button in the theme and even coded it by hand.

Could this really be a matter of my browser? I felt as though this may be more of a code issue. I will try updating my browser or logging in with a different computer to see if it makes a difference.

I do comprehend what you are saying. There have been others with this issue recently as well. Some tried Chrome and the problem was resolved. Some tried Firefox and the problem was resolved. Some had success when they upgraded their Flash. Some did not have third party cookies enabled and when they did that the problem was resolved. I posted all the troubleshooting techniques so when you do file a support ticket you can provide all the details of what you had tried and what the results were to Staff. Then there will not be a back and forth email exchange that delays getting a resolution.

If you are using Internet Explorer, switch at least temporarily to Firefox or Chrome and that should fix the issue for you. Hopefully the authors of the editor being used here at wordpress.com will get this issue fixed soon and then if you wish you can switch back to IE.

timethief, I did not mean to offend. I very rarely explain myself thoroughly and often leave info out. I just wanted to clarify as getting this up and running is very important.

    I got it. Thanks everyone.
