Modularity-static page slideshow causing unwanted S/Show on blog page

Hello, im new to wordpress, but im getting there…

Basically, i have a static home page on modularity. Images are all working fine on that, the home page is not a problem.

The Problem; I have set a page as my page for posts. Each post on this page will basicaly be a short post with photo updates.

HOWEVER, there is a huge header area (i.e. where the slideshow is on the static home page) and whenever i make a post and attach the corresponding gallery, it picks a picture and sticks it right in that space. I don’t want this.

SO, what i want to know is

    1. Can i remove this space on my blog page completely somehow, and then just have my latest post with gallery appear at the top of this page?

    Thank you for any help.

    site is iansullivandecorating.wordpress.com

ps- im absolutely broke so any upgrades are not an option

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Ian. Have you tried deactivating the slideshow? There should be something under Appearance > Theme Options to that effect.

    Hi airodyssey, thanks for replying.

I have yes, but i want to keep the slideshow on the home page- i’m very happy with that. It’s jsut that i want to put gallery’s with my posts on the blog page, but i dont want a big picture at the top.

The way it looks now, it seems that modularity with a slideshow on the front page means i have to have a big gap with a picture at the top of my blog page. I hope i’m not right, cos this seems a bit silly!

You’re confusing the WP slideshow with the ML slideshow. On your front page you’ve got the former, so as airodyssey says you can simply go to Appearance > Theme Options and disable the latter.

actually, sonmething i dont understand is- if i have disabled the ML slideshow now (which i have, and the big space on the blog page is gone), why is it still the same as it was? I still have the wide pictures that i had before.

i’m still confused (even though my problem is fixed!)

“Big space on the blog page is gone” but “still the same as it was”? Now I am confused!
