Hey there Filip,
to map a domain to your WordPress account it’s sufficient to have a Personal Plan. However, if you’re planning on monetising your site with ads, that is possible only in Premium or Business plans. Here you can find more about all the pricing:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
And here more details about each plan:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/plan-features/
I hope that helps :)

From this page, https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/:
WordPress.com bloggers, who are using a Free or Personal Plan, have moderate to high traffic and appropriate content also have the option to apply to the WordAds program. Only sites with a custom or mapped domain can apply.
Interestingly enough these two sentences above contradict themselves as in order to have a custom domain or mapping you have to upgrade to at least a Personal plan. So I guess it is not possible on a Free plan even though that is stated on the support page.
So you if you have enough traffic and good content you can submit your site for WordAds, here: https://wordads.co/signup/

So I guess it is not possible on a Free plan even though that is stated on the support page.
Not possible for people with recently created sites but there will still be some who set up free WordPress.com sites a number of years ago when things like space upgrades and Domain mapping were a stand-alone upgrades and didn’t need to be bundled in with an upgraded plan. I believe they can still renew those options if they don’t let them lapse.
