  Is there a way to charge people (one-time fee) to create an account and post in their bio, feed, etc while allowing people to view their content without an account for free

  I’m sure it’s possible, and it’s a case of finding the right plugin that would be cater for that.

  In order to take purchases, you would need an ecommerce solution like WooCommerce, and if you’re looking for a membership type set up, you would need an add on like WooCommerce memberships: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-memberships/

  In order to run both of those, at a minimum you would need the business plan so that these plugins can run:

  I’m really curious – what are you looking to build exactly? It sounds like you’re building some kind of forum, is that right?

  I’m wondering if there’s a plugin out there that could kill two birds with one stone.

  Sort of! I am actually going to be creating a digital memorial service which is why I want the people with a profile to pay but other people such as their family or friends to be able to view their bio, posts, etc for free

  Offhand, I cannot think of a plugin that allows specifically what you are describing, but I am more than sure that there are some available. I would reach out to the developers of the MemberPress plugin and ask if that is something their plugin can accommodate.
