Monotone Theme

And it now seems that the images are clickable, and they take you to the next post. Was this always true, and I”m just really slow?
-
Yes, there’s mapping going on in your photo. You get that nifty “previous” and “next” link if you click on either the left or right side of the photo. That was there from day one too, along with the search box. (But rain- you are about as slow as a Ferrari in 5th gear.) :)
FWIW, I’ve enabled the “possibly related posts” on my Monotone photoblog and the mapping is so tight at the bottom of the post that if there are 4 links there, the last link is canceled out because the mapping for the left and right arrows takes precedence. Maybe this happens because of my monitor resolution and/or size, I haven’t a clue.
-
Well, see, I didn’t know any of that. I am slow!
I’ve allowed the Possibly Related posts, although now that I think of it I’m curious. I haven’t seen ONE incoming hit from that system…am I on a blacklist or something? I saw them at raincoaster until I turned it off. But when the links show up and do bring people, do they bring them to lolebrity.wordpress.com or do they bring them to lolebrity.net? What do those links link to, the new domain name or the old one?
-
That’s one for support I’d guess. So far many of the related links on my Monotone blog link back to other posts on my site, including “Hello World!”, which I deleted. LOL

Hi, all. I’m glad I found this thread. I also think an addition needs to me made so that Copyright information can be input.
I was wondering, is there anyway in the Monotone Theme (or wordpress in general) that you can select all posts and make mass changes?
Before realizing you can go into settings > privacy and change the viewability of your site, I was publishing each post (read: image) as private, so it couldn’t be seen. I then had to go back and individually make public, each post, of which at the time there were over 40.
Is there a way to select all posts then change data/settings for
1) a post’s status
2) tags
3) descriptionthanks!

@gesternfurimmer,
I do not believe so I Believe you’ll have to change each post individually -

thanks! I figured that out after I posted, while looking for other answers. I assume this will be the same then but is it possible to override the automatic colour choice for the background a photo is posted on?
I’ve looked at all the Themes (there were 5 pages) and this one seems to be the best suited for photographic websites. That said, I’m wondering if anyone has experience with some or any of the others that have flexible width and custom headers.
(From what I’ve heard) the Monotone Theme is relatively new and some of the options it currently lacks may possibly be available on other themes and adaptable to suit photographic needs. Like some of the widgets people are mentioning, would it not be possible to replicate the look of the Monotone theme by using another theme, applying the helpful widgets (and other inputs), then hiding the rest?
Curious because I’m new. Is that calling for too much work, or is it a viable option?
That said, I’m going to send a message to the Support group regarding suggestions for the Monotone Theme. -
also, (this is probably a ‘no’ too) is there a way to change the words ‘archive’ and ‘about’ to anything else? With the setup of my page, it appears changing ‘about’ to ‘photography’ would be more in-line with the direction of the website.
x thanks
-
There’s no way to change those words; they’re hard-coded as far as I can see.
You could put your copyright message as text on each page, or as a link to your About page, where you spell it out in detail.
I think the changes you’re suggesting are not currently possible on any theme. You MIGHT, if you were good at CSS, be able to purchase the CSS upgrade and change every single post every single time, but it’s very, very doubtful. As far as I know there is no-one who has changed the CSS of the Monotone theme, and it may not even be possible, since so much of it is set up differently from other themes.
-
While I like the Monotone theme, it is definitely lacking in the widget department and I’m still dreaming of the 2.5 auto EXIF extraction being available in this theme. Regardless, for all it currently lacks, none of the other themes available on wp.com have the ability to “magically” change the container background color with each post/photo displayed.
There are other themes that can certainly be used for photoblogs, as long as you are willing to be bound by their limitations if you don’t have or want the CSS upgrade. On my non-Monotone photoblog, I’m presently using “The Journalist” theme, which has widgets and I’m displaying one post/photo at a time. In the past I’ve also used Unsleepable, as well as Hemingway, using a bit of a trick explained here to get images to display on the front page

Hey again,
thanks raincoaster n justjennifer for the enlightenment regarding other theme options and what is possible within the theme realm in general. for the time being i’ve written my list of suggestions, in hopes everyone’s submitted suggestions are looked and considered in a timely fashion. how is one to know when/if a change has been made or if a theme has been modified?
