Monthly payment

Is it possible to pay for the premium upgrade monthly? In installments?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As far as I’m aware, all of the premium upgrades are either yearly charges, or one-time fees (premium themes, usually). There is no way to pay them monthly through WordPress.com.

Then you have to purchase it as domain names and domain mapping don’t come free of charge.

I just purchased one and am ready to pay for domain mapping too. but can’t afford the yearly cost in lump sum. wish it were in three monthly installments or monthly.
-
Sorry but that’s a no go here. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you can log in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
Make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
Got to go as there are others who need help and all we are doing here is wasting time.

Thanks for telling me all this. I already know this. This was not my original query by the way. Have a nice day.

If you want to use your domain with WordPress hosted somewhere else, you’re going to be spending a lot more over the course of a year. Even “cheap” hosting elsewhere is generally $7/month, or $84. That’s a lot more than the $13 it costs per YEAR to map your existing domain here.

I bought premium service on 8/21/13, why is payment due for the next year a month early (7/22/13)? [http://casbbirdcount.org/]
Thanks -
The domain renewal process is started o month early so if anything goes wrong your do not lose the domain. You still get the full year’s coverage that you paid for.

Paying in lump sum for the premium upgrade is costly and WordPress need to make it atleast 3 monthly for students, etc.
I am changing the status of this discussion to resolved. There wasn’t any ‘solution’ discussed. Instead I was being ‘pushed’ to see the ‘advantages’ of the upgrade in terms of cost effectiveness, which was not related to my query in the first place. Thanks anyway.

Your “query” was answered in my initial post:
As far as I’m aware, all of the premium upgrades are either yearly charges, or one-time fees (premium themes, usually). There is no way to pay them monthly through WordPress.com.
and confirmed in the second post by TT:
andrewcpht is correct. All upgrades must be paid for in full at the time of purchase.
Frankly, I don’t think $13 is “costly” at all, even for a student. If Automattic were to allow it to be monthly, it would be just over $1/month, and would get eaten alive with credit card transaction fees.
That being said, since you are a student, you might look into a service called edublogs.org. It’s a service similar to WordPress.com, but it is geared towards educators and students rather than being a for-profit venture, so they do not charge for some of the extras, like using your own domain name.

I agree with andrewcpht re: http://edublogs.com
Edublogs lets you easily create & manage student & teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos & podcasts – it’s safe, easy and secure. The site runs on the same software we do here ie. wpMU (wordpress multiuser). However, the site is specifically set up for teachers and students. All edublogs are are advertising free, whereas our blogs here at WordPress.com are not ad-free, unless we buy an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
