Moo Cards Partnering?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve been browsing the Moo Card website and would love to have cards featuring images from my blog, but it appears WP.com is not one of their partner sites. Could it be, pretty please?

Facebook, however, is one of their partners. Does anyone know if it’s possible to use images from a WP.com blog that’s posted on FB? My sister apparently has mine on her FB page, although I’ve never seen it. Has anyone done this?

    FYI Moo Card site:
    http://www.moo.com/

I’m kind of bummed, as I’ve met all kinds of people with these cards who told me how easy it was with their blog. I guess they meant their Flickr blog. And I kept the $ in the Paypal account specifically for this. Sigh.

I only took a cursory glance so it’s entirely possible I’m missing something. But what about moo is different from any other company that prints cards, stickers, etc? IOW, why do I want this? (and I’m greedy…!)

All of this only applies to the teensy card size:

    1) those thumb-sized cards are intensely fashionable among the technorati (small “t”) although more 2007 than 2008

    2) if you’re a literary person with a literary market, they make better bookmarks than other business cards

    3) cheaper since smaller

    4) and this is the big one: if you want it to, the functionality takes 100 random images from your site and makes them the card’s images. So collectively, the cards tell the story of your blog. Individually, they are just enough to intrigue.

    5) if you’re a photoblogger, you’ll be VERY and I mean VERY impressed with the quality for price

Oh, and they’re a great excuse for showing off your blog. Hand someone a card and say “oh, this is the picture from that entry where I talked about partying with Johnny Depp in the staff room at Disney World” or whatever and you’ve got them hooked on your blog.

The small size is very post-postmodern, in that it doesn’t accommodate snail mail addresses, just six lines: email, URLs, tagline basically.

Slick, pared-down, pretty. And NOT your mother’s business cards.

Jesus, they should do mine for free after this!

Seriously, you have to physically handle these things to get it in all dimensions. They are charming, handy, cheap, and pretty, but like the iPhone you won’t get it until you have one in your hand.

Damn right they should, LOL! Srsly, thanks for the info. They do sound useful and (lord or ceiling cat strike me down for saying this) kinda hip. Is it the only place on the planet offering these goodies and services?

  • Unknown's avatar

Dunno. It’s become a brand icon, like Kleenex or Jello, only cool.

They are seriously hip; the only problem is, they were hipper last year. Next year, who knows. But I can surely get rid of a hundred cards in the next three months, so no worries.

I’d say something as a New Yorker but nobody would ever speak to me again. :)

So I’ll add…please, PTB, can we Moo too?

  • Unknown's avatar

OH, like Silicon Alley even MATTERS anymore.
    Puh-leeze.

Why don’t you stop pretending to blog and just desperately overdress to go to envelope openings with Julia Allison? Oops, I meant J*l*a A*l*s*n.

  • Unknown's avatar

See? Even non-New Yorkers are bitter!

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh, I’ve gone to my share of envelope openings, but I’ve never overdressed. Or worn too much makeup.

  • Unknown's avatar

Wait, I thought the Pennsylvania blue collar voters were bitter?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Not sufficiently, it seems.
