More ads than normal

Are the higher-ups who enacted these changes, and the ads team, really firm about wanting to keep that huge ad right under our banners? I wouldn’t even have minded a slight increase in number of ads if it wasn’t so hungry with the real estate.

Blogging is just a hobby for me, so it’s nothing I would ever buy a subscription for. Not to mention, even if I could cover the cost with WordAds, I don’t feel my blog is transformative enough to profit from advertising, as a principle. Having all these ads around does put a damper on the joy of blogging.

And yes, to echo the others, @supernovia and the rest of the support team, we do appreciate your listening to our complaints. I know it’s not easy to deal with frustrated people — it’s like working customer service; frustrating in of itself.

@justjennifer and @supernovia , thank you for the information .

So, I keep my paying site (walterpascoli art blog ) and I close my free site ( 222 art blog ) . I will manage differently my free site 222 art blog, on another platform, Fb, Twitter or other …

I am not an employee wordpress.com, so I won’t spend my time answering questions on the French forum. Sorry . Everyone is looking out for their own interests .

    Thank you .

… so will no longer spend my time answering questions on the French forum .

  • Thanks, everyone. I’ll keep surfacing your comments. And I’m sorry to hear that, @walterpascoli; I do understand, though.

My blog is also impacted. Being posting over 500 pieces of articles on wordpress.com for about nine years, it may be the time for me to say goodbye. The content-generators remains whereas wordpress.com has changed.

Still having issues as you can see by the screenshot – a big banner ad underneath the site banner, 2 vertical strip ads on either side of the screen and a horizontal strip ad at the bottom of the screen – all for the same business (whose website I had literally just visited, what a coincidence!?), plus rectangle ads scattered through the text for random things. I really hope an improvement cam be made to viewing pleasure for site visitors. Thanks for your help.

As written recently in my previous message, I have also encountered all the problems mentioned here. I have reinforced the presence of ad blocking softwares which seems to have stopped the intrusion. But it remains that not all readers of our blogs are necessarily equipped in this way and that the inconvenience of these unwelcome ads can certainly turn these readers away from our blogs. On the other hand, on my phone it is a real disaster. So far, none of my 1500 monthly visitors has complained. However, if the phenomenon gets worse, it is clear that I will change my platform

Just popping in to show another example of an advert “breaking” content. I put it in quotes because I’m sure someone will argue that this is not broken. The screenshot below shows an advert being placed in between the pre-defined text which is showing the contents of a file and the right justified text underneath which is the file name. The advert in between means that the tie between these two pieces of text is no longer clear.

I would reiterate my prior request that you need to show us where ads are going to be placed when we are creating blog posts so that this kind of thing doesn’t happen. The box at the end makes that clear – but we have no boxes for these new ads – they can just appear anywhere.

Is there any feedback in general about this issue – I’ve seen lots of other people commenting, but not much back from WordPress. Have any of our suggestions been taken to heart?

Forgot to say (and it won’t let me edit my own reply!!!) that the blog post in question is https://mqgem.wordpress.com/2022/09/30/key-database-file-passwords/

@moraghughson Yes, there was no positive response from wordpress.com, so I closed my free blog … Maybe this is what is expected …

  • Hi there @moraghughson I visited your page but I did not see the ad that you see. The team has made some adjustments on our end, so is it the case that you still see the ad in that spot?

    Here is what I see:

    Thanks for the additional info!
