More control over Reblog
-
Hi Happiness Engineer gang,
I’m wondering if there is an alternative way to ‘reblog’ something that gives me the chance to set tags, post format, etc. before the post goes live. I’m often surprised (and a bit disappointed) with how the reblogged post looks.
Any suggestions?

Are you referring to reblogging your own previous posts?
Or are you referring to reblogging someone else`s published posts and changing their tags, etc. ?
Have you read the relevant support doc at https://en.support.wordpress.com/reblogs/

Can I edit a post I’ve reblogged?
You can go back and edit the comments you left when you reblogged a post, but you cannot edit any parts of the original post excerpt (including the post title). If you like, you can add categories or tags to the post. Reblogs show up under My Site → Blog Posts in your dashboard, and they can be edited the same way you edit your own posts. -
Hey all, I think the issue here is
“before the post goes live.”
Everything mentioned in the support guide is done after the fact, so it looks like the current answer is no. Categories and tags help users find content on your site, so even if they are added to the post after the fact, anyone browsing the Reader should also be able to see or search for your posts.
If you’re interested, I’d head over to the Ideas forum and post a suggestion for improvements to the current reblog there. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas#postform

Hi,
Thanks, both, for getting back to me. @justjennifer – that’s exactly what I was after.
I occasionally reblog other bloggers’ posts and my blog is set up to Publicize to Facebook. My experience is that Reblog doesn’t give me the chance to ‘step in the middle’ to add tags, set the post format, customize my message to Facebook, etc. – it often doesn’t turn out the way I had wished.
I’ll do as you suggest, @justjennifer, and post the idea at the other forum.
Thanks again to both of you for your help.
