More Detailed Stats Option
-
I know people have already asked about using Google Analytics within WordPress.com and understand there is both a licensing and security issue involved with this and realize why it’s not safe to hold my breath waiting for it. That being said however, while I do enjoy the information shown about my site in the Dashboard / Blog Stats, there is a lot more information that is able to be tracked, and as the admin of my site, knowing as much about my readers as possible is definitely going to help me “build a better blog” so to speak by being able to have content that I know is relevant to my followers.
Is there plans for a more detailed stats package to be available for existing wordpress users, perhaps the ability to go further back in time with the graphs, more options for aggregating the information, or as I’ve described above, more detailed information about the visitors. I would be willing to pay extra for this as a Paid Upgrade service, and I’m sure others share the same mindset.
Thanks Automattic!

It is my understanding that from a comment made by Matt, that stats will be getting some new features. What those are I cannot even guess, but the feeling I got from the comment was that they would be beefed up and show more information.
When? No idea really, but I would expect within the next few months.

Just my 2 cents, but it would be nice to have the ability to “audit” the stats that we do get currently. The reason probably why I’ve been able to consistently stay dedicated to my wordpress blog (and in essence help Automattic also increase it’s traffic) is because I was able to see the results via the statistics features. It’s one of the best things WordPress did from the beginning.
However, if the statistics are incorrect or rather there’s a lack of support that they are correct, it’s a little disappointing. Compete.com says my traffic is much less than what WordPress tells me, but I want a reputable tool like Google Analytics to give me the real answer. It would be great if we could track our statistics with Google Analytics. It may also prove to us that maybe Google Analytics isn’t that great either. ;)
Anyway, I’m another blog which wouldn’t mind the integration of google analytics and wordpress — two great firms! :)

therealsouthkorea – the integration you hope for exists. That’s where the stats come from:

The stats are NOT incorrect: what’s happening is, they are counting different things. Wp.com counts the number of times “Angela” is loaded, Angela being the little smiley face you sometimes see around your blog. Other stat counters count different things. No two stat counters will agree, ever. It’s just a given of the business. It doesn’t mean one is wrong and one is right; the important thing is the trend, are you going up or down?
