More gradation in user roles & privileges

  I’d like to give a user the right to edit their own comments and posts, but not others. My understanding is that an Author can edit their own posts, but not their own comments on other threads, but an Editor can edit anyone’s posts or comments.

  So, is there any way to make a user role that is between an Author and Editor that can edit their own posts and comments, but not others?

  That level of control is not available here and from what I recall needs a plugin or some database changes to achieve on a non-wordpress.com blog. I think it unlikely right now.

  I know there’s a role manager plugin for regular wordpress but I don’t even recall even it having that fine of a control.
