More image hell

I’m new to this and not very technological, but have been managing to learn some of the basics.

I had only four posts on my site with all the photos aligned left but yesterday I tried to center all the images and add captions. That worked fine for three out of the four posts but after spending at least three hours trying, nothing that I did worked for the fourth one, so I deleted the post out of frustration and rage.

From my primitive reading of the code, the instructions were right there, the preview looked great, I saved everything possible, but in the end, nothing changed. The image stubbornly remained on the left with no caption.

Is there any help out there?

As stated on your other thread. Your blog is private which means we can’t look to really assist.

    So, can you:
    1. Say what theme you are using-
    2. Explain what you did to center the images.

I’m seeing the blog just fine. Someone change a setting?

I was desperately trying to sort things out so I privatized it. Anyway, it’s open now and I would appreciate any assistance.

What I’m not seeing in the source code for that top post are the image tags that exist on the other images.

So, can you explain how you uploaded and inserted the first three images?

I uploaded a resized image of the scarves, then chose the “center” dot, and added a caption. Everything came out perfectly on the preview, and the code said “center,” and I saved everything. But the picture came out on the left side, with no caption, every single time. You can see on my site the top picture does not look like the others.

I just deleted the image that was there and did the whole thing all over again and got exactly the same result as I got the previous ten or fifteen times. Where do I go for psychiatric support?

Here are the steps: (1) add media (2) browser uploader (3) browse (4) upload “new tussah scarves 24” (5) caption (6) alignment: center (7) size: “full size” (8) insert into post (9) save.

And voila: flush left, no caption.

Try creating a new post rather than updating the old one and see what happens. If it works, then just delete the previous post with the non-center-aligning image.

(RE Psychiatric support-as one knitter to maybe another knitter…you know the line.)

Thanks, but I have alredy tried that and gotten the same result unless the software has changed in the last half hour.

I’m a handweaver so I’m used to challenges but this blog stuff is somethin’ else!

I’ve had a bit of trouble with centering the images myself. Even though when I upload the file and fill in all the little data and dots, after clicking the “Insert into post” button it still aligns itself on the left. How I work around that is after I insert the picture I then select the picture, click the little image button in the top left corner of my picture and bring up the image options thingy again. I click center again (even tho the dot is already selected) and then press “Update” for some reason this moves the picture over to Center rather than Left.

Thanks, your suggestion was a little different from what I had been doing, but still didn’t work. As you can see if you look at my site, the top image is STILL on the left with no caption. I had no problem re-positioning the other three images and adding captions but that fourth image is not worth my sanity.

I’m a little embarrassed to report that ladyshalymar’s suggestion would probably have worked if I had highlighted the image correctly. So it took several people and almost a whole day for me to learn how to center an image. Steeper learning curve than I thought but thanks.
