more likes than views

How can a post have seven “likes” and only four views?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That is because someone could have liked the post from the Reader without ever entering your blog and recording a ‘view’. In addition you could get a like by someone off of your blog’s homepage.

Indeed now on the Reader people can even make a comment, reblog or follow your blog, without ever going to your blog. It’s unfortunate, but unavoidable.

Yes, it is unfortunate. It’s hard to know what to make of the stats. Recently I had more views on the homepage than visitors. I thought each visitor was unique. How or why would anyone click more than once on the homepage? Or if someone revisits later in the same day, the homepage would register but not the visitor?

I also thought my computer is recognized as such and that my visits don’t count. Today I didn’t sign in and each click of mine registered as a hit.

It used to be that if one got to a post through the homepage, read the post and clicked on “More,” that would not count as a hit on the post. Is that still true? In order to register a hit, the actual name of the post has to be clicked?

I know. Lots of questions. Sorry. It’s just that the logic eludes me.

I just realized that you’re a member, not staff. I’ll leave this anyway in the hope that someone will see it.

WordPress.COM remembers you if you are logged in – if you are not logged in then your visits will be counted

I go back to the home page when I visit a site sometimes – either to start over or to be able to page down some more – visits to the home page are normal – also someone that visits from a search engine or other referral might go to the home page to see what else you have written

If you get to a post by scrolling down the homepage and you “like” it or comment or click on “more”– will any of these count as a hit for the post?

Scroll down the page and click on “More” which sends you to the Post should give you a Page View for that Post

Many people use the More Tag so they can tell what Posts are being read – also speeds up the front page load time and makes it easier for visitors to view your blog – they can tell easier where one Post stops and the next one starts (I use a bit less that one screen – just enough text to get around the lead picture)
