"More" option not working

  Hey everyone,

  So whenever I try to put the “more” option into my posts it doesn’t change anything. What am I doing wrong?Thanks.

  I see that you are using the Twenty Ten theme. There is no universal setting for doing this. Are you clear on the fact that you must enter “the more tag” into the text in each and every post or page you wish it to appear in? Simply setting up test posts lacking any text in them and entering the more tag into them when there is no text is a “no go”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  The #1 reason people ask this question is they’re looking at the unique post. The More tag only shows on the main page of the blog, http://mrsportsfansblog.wordpress.com/ not on the individual post page. On the individual post, the whole thing shows up.

  Also, if you are looking at the post on its own, as the only post appearing on a page, you won’t see the “more” tag do anything, either (at least not in any of the themes I’m familiar with). It is intended to truncate posts when they’re displayed on a page with other posts, for example, on your main blog page or on a categories or archive page. It’s meant to conserve space so that people can scan over your most recent posts (or whichever group of posts they’re looking at) quickly and then just read the entirety of posts they’re most interested in. So if you “preview” a post with a more tag in it, you won’t see anything.

  Yeah, what I did was I would insert the more tag after I finished the posts and then viewed the front page but it didn’t make a difference.

  You should be able to delete it and insert it somewhere else, unless Twenty Ten functions differently from other themes.

  I use 2010 and I can delete the more tag and put it in anyplace I want – should work the same for you
