more spam comments than visitors

  How is it possible to get over 400 spam comments in one day yet less than 40 visitors? Why wouldn’t vistors equal spam commentors? I mean how can they comment without visiting?

  Spambots don’t usually leave any trail except the spam itself. I’m sure that someone else can give you the technical reasons for it, but apparently they are able to send the spam w/o actually visiting the page.
